		The general sentiment of local and state leaders for Pioneer Village's lack of 2004 funding was that the city faulted in straying from the umbrella of the Bullitt County's joint application and that the city had few first responders other than a small police force that protects the city's 3700 residents.
		Pioneer Village Mayor Gary Hatcher said he didn't know if the state was trying to make up for last year's lack of funding for Pioneer Village or if the city had just scored that well on its grant application, but said he was pleased nonetheless.
		Hatcher applauded the Pioneer Village city clerk's work on the grant application and said that any resources or equipment purchased with the approved funding would be made available to any other part of the county.

		The trail was started by buffalo and other wildlife going to the salt licks.The Native Americans also used the trail in their travels north and south.
