The primary motivation behind creation of the Pipes and Drums of CPF was to have a dignified, traditional presence at the unveiling of the California Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento.

The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon guards have their origin in the small pipe band which came to the Scots Greys in 1946 as a result of demobilisation of certain Scottish Territorial Armoured Corps units.
The plaid brooch bears the White Horse of Hanover and the Eagle and Carbines badge is worn on the sporran and as a plume clasp.
The Pipes and Drums maintain an extremely high musical standard and on more than one occasion have reached Grade One, when they have found themselves among the fifteen outstanding pipe bands in the world and alone among the British Army and reached world recognition with Amazing Grace in 1971.
