Today, Piranha Bytes announced the breakdown of negotiations with JoWooD over the continuation of their Gothic partnership.
Ralf Marczinczik, Art Director with Piranha Bytes, reassured the flabbergasted fans about the continued commitment of PB to the fanbase and promised a more detailed statement later this week.

Piranha Bytes' RPG sequel Gothic III was announced with a teeny drum roll back in December last year, all that was mentioned at the time pretty much being 'hey folks and Gothic fans, rejoice because we're doing the sequel'.
Now however, with the launch of a teaser website for the third romp in the series, the developer has rattled its media sabre and unsheathed the very first Gothic III screenshots.
Gothic III might retain the essence of the series but Piranha Bytes is introducing many improvements and innovations as it seeks, in its own words, to "deliver an unbeatable RPG experience to all the Gothic fans out there".

Jowood doesn't do a very aggressive job of marketing anything.
