Pisco (Quechua: Little bird) is a liquor distilled from grapes (a brandy) made in wine-producing regions of South America.
The first vineyards in the Viceroyalty of Peru were planted in the fertile coastal valleys of Peru shortly after the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadores.
However, during the War of the Pacific, Peru was effectively defeated and became an occupied nation until the Treaty of Ancon in 1883, ceded the desertic area of Tarapaca to Chile; this desertic area was use to produce a Pisco adapting the Peruvian techniques.

The point is that pisco has a great export potential for both nations, and instead of fighting over it's origin we should work together in marketing this great spirit around the globe.
Peru has produced pisco from the city of Pisco (300 Kms south of Lima) since the XVI century (Chile always bought pisco from Peru!).
Real Pisco is hard to find in Europe, we can only find that Chilean stuff which should not be called Pisco at all, not only becasue of the name and copy write infringement but because they make it in a totally different way.
