 Kid Icarus
An early platform-style game, Kid Icarus follows the adventures of Pit, a heroic angel warrior who must rescue his queen, Palutena, from the evil Medusa.
In Captain N worlds, Pit was usually referred to as "Kid", and had the annoying habit of ending words with "-icus".
Kid Icarus also had a nifty way to defeat dungeon bosses easier.

Kid Icarus (derived from the Greek myth of Icarus) is a console game for the Famicom Disk System in Japan, where it is known as Hikari shinwa: Parthena no kagami (光神話 パルテナの鏡 Hikari shinwa parutena no kagami), or Myth of Light: Parthena's Mirror.
The game did spawn a Game Boy sequel entitled Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, but apart from long-forgotten rumors of a Super Famicom/Super NES follow-up that never came to be, no words of a new game in the series have been mentioned.

Pit was such a cool character, and yes a Wind Waker-esque Kid Icarus would rock.
On the other had Kid Icarus has only been seen in 2d, had more "comedy" in the title and would be better accepted cel shaded.
I totally agree...Kid Icarus is one of those old school games that I sometimes recall and make me wish I were playing it right now...It was quite hard, and also very dark and intriguing.

 Kid Icarus Miscellaneous
Many of the enemies are similar to those of the NES Kid Icarus, and the levels are laid out in a similar fashion.
Also, they called Pit's world "Mount Icarus" (or "Mt. Olympus" in the comics) instead of "Angel Land" (though that may have been because of censorship of "religious" items.) Finally, Pit's voice wasn't too bad, but I didn't like how he added "-icus" to the end of everything.

Due to snap shots of a stage that appears to be a Greek temple of some sorts, independent parties from around the web all agree that the stage could only belong to one character on Nintendo, Pit, the hero of the NES game Kid Icarus.
Officially, there will be over 20 playable characters in Melee (according to a dicionary, a melee is a complex hand-to-hand fight), leaving a Hell of a lot of speculation out on who the characters might be.
Although Nintendo's lips are tighter than Britney Spear's pants on the subject, can you think of any other character on Nintendo that might have a Greek temple for a stage?
