Pitstone was given to the abbey at Ashridge by the Earl of Cornwall in 1283.
In 1290 King Edward I spent Christmas in Pitstone at the estate that had been given to the abbey, and stayed for five weeks, during which time he held parliament in Ashridge.
A notable building in Pitstone is Pitstone Windmill, which is owned by the National Trust.

Pitstone started the game in their normal attacking style with James as usual having an early shot at goal, this time it was followed up by a good corner kick, which had the visitors defence in trouble.
Pitstone replied to the goal well as James saw a good looping shot saved by the goalkeeper, who then did well to save a shot from the resulting corner.
Pitstone were still having more of the play but Cougars were breaking well from defence, two of these counter attacks resulting in goals to give the home team a 3-1 score at the end of the 3rd qtr.

The villages of Ivinghoe and Pitstone are close together, 3 miles north of Tring.
Given to the National Trust in 1937, it is now restored and is open to the public on Sunday and Bank Holiday afternoons during the summer months.
Built in the early 1700s on the site of an earlier mill, it has been restored to recreate the atmosphere of a small corn mill in the 1800s.

The boat club was formed more than 30 years ago, based on the Grand Union canal at Pitstone, has a membership of 80 people and their families, and has always taken an interest in local matters.
Pitstone parish council considers that the dumping of rubbish in this quarry would be a blight on the neighbourhood.
