 Self Pity
Pity is one of the most common things that people come talk to us about.
So it is the urge to get somebody to pick me up and "hold me in their arms"; or to escape into a non-world where there are no disturbances.
This situation was a revelation to me because It seems to me that if she truly wanted to work out of "self pity" and all the adaptation and misery that goes with it, she would have asked me for a copy of the apology or gone to find the one she received.

Of all emotions, pity is the hardest to endure, especially when it is deserved.
Pity, though it may often relieve, is but, at best, a short-lived passion, and seldom affords distress more than transitory assistance; with some it scarce lasts from the first impulse till the hand can be put into the pocket.
Pity and commiseration are mixed with some regard for the thing which one pities.

Jesus, Son of David, Have Pity on Me
JESUS, SON OF DAVID, HAVE PITY ON ME Jesus revealed that love is present in the world in which we live - an effective love, a love that addresses itself to man and embraces everything that makes up his humanity.
Before His own townspeople, in Nazareth, Christ refers to the words of the prophet Isaiah: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." These phrases, according to Luke, are His first messianic declaration.

 Eric Shackle's eBook - Intercourse
Pity Me, in County Durham, is one of dozens of oddly named villages in northern England -- legacies of the region's rich mix of linguistic influences.
British historian David Simpson says "It has been suggested Pity Me was the site of a small lake or 'mere' and that the name means Petit Mere, Petty Mere or Peaty Mere.
"Another suggestion is that Pity Me is the cry of the Peewits (or Lapwings) which inhabit the area.
