NEW YORK — Disney (DIS) and Pixar (PIXR) made it official Tuesday: The entertainment giant agreed to buy the computer-animation studio for stock valued at nearly $7.5 billion based on Disney's closing price Tuesday of $25.99.
Disney CEO Robert Iger will put Pixar President Ed Catmull in charge of Disney and Pixar's animation operations, which will remain in their respective quarters in Burbank and Emeryville, Calif. Catmull will report to Iger and Disney studio chief Dick Cook.
Iger's willingness to give Pixar so much control is a sharp break from the management style of his predecessor, Michael Eisner.

Once a year, Pixar studios opens its doors for tours though it’s guarded walls thanks to the Emeryville Education Fund and its VP, Randy Nelson (one of the higher ups at Pixar University).
After getting settled in, we were welcomed by 2 Pixar staff members named Josh and Junyi who walked us through the techniques of modeling and shading, using 2 characters from the newest Pixar short, ‘Lifted’; which will be released with Ratatouille next year.
It's just one more reason Pixar is recognized as one of the best places to work in the U.S. I hope this doesn't change now that they're fully under the Disney umbrella.
