The ascents from the Swiss side are altogether in firn and ice and quite difficult, especially the N flank with its hanging glaciers, which falls down with ice faces and ice breaks to the Vadret da Tschierva.

These are superb areas; Bregaglia consists of a spectacular range of granite peaks with good quality rock climbing while Bernina, in contrast, offers some excellent classics on snow and ice.
Bregaglia and Bernina are compact mountain ranges straddling the Italian frontier in the SE corner of Switzerland.
