Pizzicato 5 are at their very best when they sound new and fresh.
I got my nephews hooked on Pizzicato Five three years ago after I discovered them myself, and whenever we travel together (which is a lot, as I babysit them often) they request this band's albums more than any other group besides The Beatles.
Pizzicato Five is one of those rare musical acts who keep getting better and better with each album, who continue to persistently produce music that is nothing but outstanding, who are completely incapable of creating "filler" junk.

Pizzicato Five is has been my favorite band for the past 4 or 5 years since I first heard them on Live 105 when I was living in the San Fransisco Bay Area.
Here is a link to their stuff (Pizzicato Five) They don't carry everything but they probably carry the most of any place in the US.
I'm not sure of their entire history but I know that a couple of my earlier albums sound like they are by a completely different band.

Don't ever try to understand this group, because I think that they may be off living in their own candy-coated universe somewhere.
While most people probably expected them to go the one (or two) hit wonder route of Shonen Knife, Pizzicato Five have changed their sound just enough to keep fresh.
Like always, the album dips in all kinds of styles over the course of 14 tracks, whether it's squirrelly jazz or lounge or rumbling drum and bass numbers with orchestral touches or even surf-rock guitars.

I'm learning to speak Japanese, so not only is this disc an excellent tutor (the lyrics are almost entirely in Japanese with English translation in the liner notes), but it's also great listen.
If their moderately successful modern rock hit "Twiggy Twiggy" was your introduction to Pizzicato Five like mine was, you're probably thinking, "Hmmm.
If you're the type that likes a little kitsch with your cola, and you describe Beck's Odelay as "great, if it were just a little more diverse," you should get yourself a copy of Happy End of the World.
