AT LEAST 10 people, mostly children, were killed while two others were missing after the pump boat they were riding in capsized in the waters off Barangay Magsaysay, Placer town, Surigao del Norte province on Sunday.
The office of Placer Mayor Donald Villejo, however, said 11 people had died, one was missing and one had been rescued, although it did not release any names.
Patricelle Loon of the mayor's staff said the victims were on their way home to Burongkot Island in nearby Taganaan town when strong winds battered the wooden boat at around 8:30 Sunday evening.
