While initially supported as "the best Plan from Outer Space ever" by Plan from Outer Space planning consultants, Plan 9 from Outer Space proved to be highly flawed, as was discovered during the plan's implementation phase.
As is well-known, the long series of Plans from Outer Space were originally devised to prevent Earth's human race from devising Solaranium-based weapons technology, capable of exploding star-emitted photons (including those of Earth's own Sun) and potentially extinguishing all life in the galaxy.
After the first eight plans failed to gain much attention from Earth's curiously disunited governments and corporate-dominated media establishment, the Plan from Outer Space planners were forced to implement Plan 9 from Outer Space as a last resort.

More than just a bad film, Plan 9 is something of a one- stop clearinghouse for poor cinematic techniques: The time shifts whimsically from midnight to afternoon sun, Tor Johnson flails desperately in an attempt to rise from his coffin, and flying saucers zoom past on clearly visible strings.
Plan 9 is so sweetly well- intentioned in both its message and its execution that it's impossible not to love it.

They are trying to stop man discovering the solaranite bomb, which harnesses the power of the sun and in the wrong hands could see the end of life as we, or anybody else in the solar system for that matter, knows it.

What distinguishes Plan 9 from less interesting failures is the bizarre but sincerely overwrought screenplay from now-famous director Edward D. Wood Jr.
Most of Wood's films have this strangely direct feel to them, but Plan 9 From Outer Space is definitely the tightest synthesis of the man's personal idiosyncrasies and his deep desire to tell a story that everyone would love.

But, in the case of Plan 9, my difficulty in getting past the first few screens was because I never once thought to examine the desk in the producer’s office.
And why would I, when you looked at the desk all it said was desk, why would anyone believe that there was a drawer in the desk that held the key to the screening room unless the look feature gave me some sort of clue.

"Plan 9 From Outer Space" is without a doubt Ed Wood's most hilariously incompetent movie - if you only see one of his epics, make it this one.
"Plan 9" revolves around a couple of space invaders in bad suits who fly around in spaceships on strings and resurrect the recently dead to haunt the inhabits of a small town where it seems to go back and forth from night to day a lot.
The humans aren't having it though as a joint team of the local police, military, and an overacting airline pilot refuse to be terrorized by the undead creatures (who can't decide whether they're ghouls or vampires).

Scifilm -- Musings, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (1958)
Space aliens try to defeat the forces of the earth by raising the dead.
One of the problems of dealing with a movie that has attained a legendary status such as this one is that it's really hard to say something original; saying that it's the worst movie of all time is as hackneyed a statement as saying it's not (though I agree with the latter).

 Plan 9 from Outer Space
After a credits sequence that almost makes Plan 9 from Outer Space look like a halfway respectable film, we cut to the scene of a tiny funeral, and if it weren’t for Criswell’s continued narration, you’d again be tempted to believe that you were watching something with a bit of class to it.
If that had been the main failing of Plan 9 from Outer Space, no one would care much about it almost 50 years later; it would be just another crummy old sci-fi movie with a sloppy, indifferently written script.
And there’s a reason why Plan 9 from Outer Space is the one we remember him for.

For instance, if there were no "Plan 9" there would be no Sean S. These people have failed to achieve the grandeur of Wood, as did the filmmakers of "Battlefield Earth", which like "Plan 9", involved some religious folk, and was arguably a failed attempt to remake this classic bad movie.
Wood's original title for the film was "Grave Robbers from Outer Space", but the Baptist ministers who financed the film objected to that title, so he changed it to "Plan 9" (never, of course, making any reference to what the previous eight plans were).

Yes, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Ed Wood's famously awful 1959 sci-fi epic, the one with hubcaps for flying saucers, a cast of nobodies and a script that makes no sense.
Yes, the "acting" is so bad that we can safely refer to it in quotes and the effects are anything but special, but Ed Wood obviously had a true passion for filmmaking.
I want to stress that again: the color version of Plan 9 will make you forget that the movie was shot in fl and white.
