The Plan of Casa Mata (Spanish: Plan de Casa Mata) was formulated to abolish the monarchy in Mexico and to establish a republic.
By agreement of both heads the Plan de Casa Mata was proclaimed in February 1, 1823.
Agustín de Iturbide was isolated without more support than Mexico City and some fractions of the army; consequently,he installed the dissolved constituent Congress again, abdicated to the crown and fled the country in March 1823.

Augustín Cosme Damián de Iturbide y Arámburu (September 27, 1783 - July 19, 1824) was Emperor of Mexico from 1822 to 1823.
Opposition to his administration soon grew, and in 1823 various regional governors and military commanders, among them Guadalupe Victoria[?] and Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, issued the Plan de Casa Mata, calling for the overthrow of Iturbide and declaring Mexico a Republic.
In 1865 Iturbide's grandson Agustin de Iturbide y Green was named heir to the nation's only other emperor Maximilian of Mexico.

In December, 1822, Antonio López de Santa Anna was raised against Agustín de Iturbide, along with Guadalupe Victoria signed the Plan de Casa Mata (February 1, 1823), to overthrow the emperor.

Santa Anna planned on putting down the rebellion first in Zacatecas then move to Coahuila y Tejas.
During his time in New York City he is credited as bringing the first shipments of chicle, the base of chewing gum, to the United States, but he failed to profit from this since his plan was to use the chicle to replace rubber in carriage tires, which was tried without success.

After Iturbide was proclaimed Emperor of Mexico by the Congress, Guerrero later turned against him and came out in favor of a Republic with the Plan of Casa Mata.
When the conservative Manuel Gómez Pedraza won the election to succeed Guadalupe Victoria as president of Mexico, Guerrero, with the aid of General Antonio López de Santa Anna, staged a coup and took the presidency on 1 April 1829.
The state of Guerrero is named after him, and his birthplace was renamed Tixtla de Guerrero in his honor.

He again became an active Congressman when it was reassembled in Mar 1823 after the emergence of Gen.
