A triangle is one of the basic shapes of geometry: a two-dimensional figure with three vertices and three sides which are straight line segments.
Since any given triangle lies completely within a plane, triangles are often treated as two-dimensional geometric figures.
As such, a triangle has no volume and, because it is a two-dimensionally closed figure, the flat part of the plane inside the triangle has an area, typically referred to as the area of the triangle.

The Classical Theory of Concepts [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
That is, a thing must be a four-sided regular figure in order for it to be a square, and if a thing is a four-sided regular figure, then it must be a square.
If what is expressed by “four-sided regular figure” is contained in what is expressed by “square,” then “A square is a four-sided regular figure” is such that the meaning of its predicate expression is contained in what its subject expresses.
For since “square” and “four-sided regular figure” have the same possible-worlds extension, then substituting “square” for “four-sided regular figure” in “A square is a four-sided regular figure” yields “A square is a square,” which is a logical truth.

Then, specifying the subject further, one seeks properties of things known through the less common concepts.
For example, in plane geometry, one would begin with plane figure and discover what belongs to it as such.
Then one would turn to, say, triangle and seek its properties, after which one would go on to scalene and isosceles.
