Orbital Elements for the 12th Planet
The 12th Planet's orbit takes it well away from the Sun after passage, so that it moves out a distance equal to 1/4 of the distance between the Sun and its other foci before it slows to a stop.
Having passed the Sun again on the second pass, and moving far enough from the Sun and the planets in the orbital plane to feel free of their influence, the 12th Planet again begins to listen to the second foci.
Here the 12th Planet is somewhat further from the Sun than the measurement we have mentioned for the approach, as the second foci is farther away and has less influence at this point.

Anglo-Australian Planet Search   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
These low-mass planets are exciting to the Anglo-Australian Planet Search team because they all have small velocity amplitudes - that is the represent the detection of quite small "wobbles" in the parent stars due to these planets.
The velocity of this wobble depends on the distance at which the planet orbits, and the mass of the planet.
The other planets (in particular the terrestrial planets like the Earth, Mars and Venus) are far too small to produce a measureable effect on the Sun.

Blógünder Schlock » Blog Archive » Grandfathering Planets
This definition is logically consistant, and even scientifically applicable: a planet is an object in the heavens which can be observed with the unaided eye, and appears to move on at least a daily timescale with respect to the “fixed” celestial sphere.
The study of sub-stars (brown dwarfs, planets, and minor planets) is still at the “counting and naming” stage (see Williamina Fleming for the equivalent stage in stellar classification history), but we’ll get to the theory eventually.
Making the distinction between planet and not a planet amongst the Kuiper Belt Objects purely based on size is completely arbitrary though, as a KBO marginally smaller than Pluto isn’t really that different to one marginally bigger.
