PlanetOut: You finished filming "A Dirty Shame" at the end of 2003, which incidentally was right before the Janet Jackson incident.
There's also a wonderful interview with John Waters on PlanetOut that's filled with lots of interesting info like how Tracey Ullman managed to pick up that water bottle at the nursing home (magnets!) and how Waters thinks Johnny Depp and Johnny Knoxville would make a really cute gay couple.

The first gay marriage in France was ruled illegal on Tuesday by a Bordeaux appeals court, although the couple has vowed to take their fight to the European courts.
A court officially ruled that the wedding was illegal in July, and that the ceremony could not stand since the marriage was not between one man and one woman.

The losers in the case are the so-called "NEA Four," performance artists of whom three are openly gay and lesbian, who in 1992 had been approved for grants from the National Endowment for the Arts which were then withdrawn because of the decency provision.
The agency itself seemed doomed to erasure before this decision was even handed down: after years of its elimination appearing as a plank in the Republican Party's national platform, and the whittling down of its budget over those years by about half, a House subcommittee this week voted to completely defund the agency.
The NEA has almost entirely given up making grants to individuals as part of incorporating the criticism that generated the "decency" clause.
