		A planetarium is a theater built primarily for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation.
		Archimedes is attributed with possessing a primitive planetarium device that could predict the movements of the Sun, the Moon and the planets.
		Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the first planetarium that was built on a U.S. college campus.

		In such conditions, the task of the Planetarium was, apart from reading of ordinary mass lectures, to render a practical assistance to soldiers and commanders of the Soviet Army in the form of special lectures of military cycle for scouts and military pilots.
		The numerous publications in the press depicting the catastrophic state of the Planetarium and forecasting its inevitable closing in June 1992 attracted the attention of the sponsor company TWINS which in the course of two years was gratuitously financing the continuos running of the Planetarium's principal activity.
		The existing concept of reconstruction and re-equipment of the Moscow Planetarium is the continuation of the work started in 1996, where the crisis state of the Planetarium's building, its social and educational meaning in the life of the capital, scientific principles of designing of modern planetariums, objects and tasks of the forthcoming reconstruction are considered.
