One time I covered the PGL season one championships for PlanetQuake, and I ended up having a blast in the role of a "sports reporter." I guess the thing is, I love to write about subjects I enjoy, and if the opportunity comes up, it doesn't really matter to me what the medium is.
PlanetQuake first wanted me to do daily news, so my newspage was called "Fargo's Frontpage." I played with the format for a while.
PlanetQuake HQ is a stone's throw from several developers and publishers -- that's nice.

Qhtml - Review: PlanetQuake vs. Telefragged   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The major thing that brings PlanetQuake down, however, is the fact that you cannot setup your CGI scripts manually.
Unlike Telefragged, PlanetQuake doesn't have a special support page for hosted sites, and all the information you get from the staff has to be put together by email replies to questions.
PlanetQuake's IRC chat, which requires a password to access, was inaccessible to me. It seems that the password was changed from the original one in the hosting letter.

As I sat quietly waiting, whispers reached the guys at the registration desk and I noticed I was being pointed at until one of the organizers walked up to me with a cheery "Pappy?" That's it, and I was whisked past the players and into an area at the front of the huge curling rink.

A hippy having just been pwned by a bulldozer.
Most people assume that it was originally from a typo of owned on the qwerty keyboard, but its origin stems from the early days of planetquake, around the time when Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka was the webmaster of the site, a few months prior to being fired from the position and subsequently founding Something Awful.
Back then, every planet site had their own humor site until several years later when all these features were consolidated into what is now Gamespy.
