Astrology: how to read your Birth Chart: Planets & Aspects
Planets are located symbolically in the chart: the signs and houses filter their energies through the planets, much as a coloured lens filters the image thrown by a stage-light, or received by a camera.
Planets which are particularly expressive of certain signs are said to rule these signs; a planet whose energies are most powerfully channelled through a certain sign is said to be exalted in that sign.
The symbolism is so carefully designed that a planet placed in the opposite sign to its exaltation is found to be weak in the expression of its natural powers and is said to be in fall; planets in the opposite signs to their rulership are also weakly placed and are said to be in detriment.

De facto a type of divination based on the theory that the positions and movements of celestial bodies (stars, planets, sun, and moon) at the time of birth profoundly influence a person's life is the science of planets or Astrology in its traditional form.
The position of the planets and the sun and moon in the twelve houses at the moment of birth is decisive.
Judicial astrology also took into consideration the position of the sun in the zodiac at the moment of birth; the signs of the zodiac also had a special astrological significance in respect to the weal and woe of the newborn, particularly his health.

Article: Angry Planets - Rayudu Astrology
The Angry Planets causing evil Karma are the natural benefic planets deposited in 6th, 8th and 12th houses and the natural malefic planets deposited in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th and 10th houses, from Chathra rasi, Arudha, Moon and Lagna.
According to the disposition of the benefic and malefic planets in the birth chart from Chathra rasi, Arudha lagna, Moon or Birth lagna, the cause of the evil karma is ascertained.
Planets favorably placed, that is, benefics in 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th and malefics in 6th, 8th, 12th, indicate merit derived from good deeds.

The planets are the central coterie of astrology.
The planets are also said to be exalted in particular signs, and in the sign of its exaltation, a planet generates its power from the conditions provided by the characteristics of the sign.
A planet is at its weakest and most ineffectual in the sign of its fall, where the nature of the sign actively opposes the planet's energies, and a planet finds its fall in the opposite sign to that of its exaltation.

In addition to this, certain schools of astrology work with a series of so-called hypothetical planets, which cannot be related to any of the known celestial bodies.
However, since astrology views the planets as they are seen from the earth, some of the planets seem to be moving backwards at times.
When the planets are in retrograde motion, in other words, apparently moving backwards, the astrological position is marked with an R. Whether this is of significance or not still gives rise to discussion.

 Personal Planets in Vedic Astrology
Obviously, a planet that is near the cusp between two signs is very likely to turn out to be the youngest (least longitude in the sign) or the oldest (most advanced longitude in the earlier sign), based on the ayanamsha value chosen.
The sign/house in which the personal planet is found can color the outlook of the person regarding the issues that (s)he considers important in life, either by necessity or by being cast in a certain role by force of circumstances.
When two planets are of exactly the same longitude (extremely rare situation), Parashara recommends using the lunar node Rahu as one of the karakas, with the planets attaining the same longitude co-chairing the chara karakattwa.

The Planets: Our Solar System and Astrology
Planets orbit the Sun, and the orbit of a planet is called its cycle.
The planets are at different distances from the Sun and so it follows that, from the Earth’s perspective, they vary in the amount of time they take to complete their orbits.
Some planets are known to have satellites—such as Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune—in the same way that the Moon is a satellite of the Earth (although for practical purposes in astrology the Moon is usually referred to as a planet).

The conjunction is the easiest aspect to note in a chart as the planets are unusually in the same sign, although planets can be conjunct if one planet is at the end of a sign (28 degrees) and the other at the beginning of the next sign (3 degrees).
Planets are Inconjunct when they are 150 degrees apart with an allowable orb of 3 degrees.

Inner planet transits can be much more significant if at the same time they are making their own aspects together and hitting on a point of the birthchart which has its own.
A transit of one of the outer planets doesn't necessarily have to hit a natal planet for its effect to be felt.
Any planet in transit returning to the same position as it was at birth will trigger off the aspects made in the natal chart by that planet.

 What is a Planet?
In Astrology, a Planet may also (for the sake of convenience, not accuracy) refer to the two heavenly bodies which are also called Lights or Luminaries (because they send or reflect light to us on Earth): the Sun (a Star) and the Moon (a Satellite of planet Earth).
Planet as defined in Astrology includes all of the seven heavenly bodies which ancient astrologers could see in the sky, plus the three planets discovered since the invention of telescopes.
Including them all under the term "Planets" means there are ten Planets found in a horoscope chart, spread among the twelve astrological Signs and twelve Houses of the horoscope.

In addition to the planets, there are three very important placements that most astrologers use: the North Node of the Moon, the South Node of the Moon and Chiron.
In astrology, the Sun and Moon are called planets and the Earth is not mentioned, because the heavenly bodies are viewed from the position of the Earth.
If we resist the challenge to claim these parts of ourselves, when the unexamined energies of these planets are activated by external circumstances, we feel totally out of control and are often forced to change and grow through the stimulation supplied by seemingly negative events.
