  Introduction to the Plantae
The Plantae includes all land plants: mosses, ferns, conifers, flowering plants, and so on—an amazing range of diverse forms.
With more than 250,000 species, they are second in size only to the arthropoda.
We have an extensive list of Botanical Collections Catalogs on the Internet, including links to gardens, museums, floras, and image collections.

Plant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Since then, it has become clear that the Plantae as originally defined included several unrelated groups, and the fungi and several groups of algae were removed to new kingdoms.
The algae comprise several different groups of organisms, which are not in the kingdom plantae but in the kingdom protista, that produce energy through photosynthesis.
The most conspicuous are the seaweeds, multicellular algae that often closely resemble terrestrial plants, but as stated above are not plants, found among the green, red, and brown algae.

 Palaeos Eukarya: Plantae
There are three, and possibly four, living groups which diverge from the base of the Plantae: the red algae, the glaucophytes, and the green plants (plus green algae).
Bowing to the ineffable, we will, for the moment at least, leave Plantae as "things with primary chloroplasts." This kind of apomorphy-based definition almost always leads to grief in the long run, but we have no good alternatives.
The basal phylogeny of plants is simplicity itself, largely because very little survives near the base of the Plantae.
