Thus, the substorm onset associated with the plasmoid detected by GEOTAIL at 0057UT, was identified from the ground magnetogram of the Kiruna Observatory at 0040 UT, that is ~17 minutes prior to magnetic structure appearance at GEOTAIL position.
Plasmoid velocity and dynamics: The timing of the distant tail plasmoid observation relative to the earlier substorm onset, the dimensions of the plasmoids and the bulk speed of the plasma within the magnetic structures can lead us to some conclusions concerning the dynamics of the magnetotail.
The total plasmoid dimensions along the X axis is therefore ~36 Re and ~28 Re for the BLP and the TCR respectively, which is again in accordance to the conclusion that the size of the individual plasmoids ejected downtail during a strong substorm, decreases from one plasmoid to the next.

The event A and G plasmoids were preceded by smoothly draped lobe field lines and followed by strong southward fields in the postplasmoid plasma sheet as predicted by the reconnection model of substorms.
This latter feature of the observations is consistent with plasmoids moving down the tail, at least in part, due to the Maxwell stress exerted by lobe field lines which were disconnected at the near-tail neutral line and have draped about the earthward side of the plasmoid.
Additional studies of plasmoid structure and dynamics as a function of substorm activity and distance down the tail should be conducted to determine the general validity of the conclusions reached on the basis of the CDAW 8 events.

 Earthlight Mechanisms
The structure of a Luminous Plasmoid, assuming that the Luminous Plasmoid is triggered by external ionizing radiation, contains simultaneously the properties of a gas, a fluid and a solid.
The core, and triggering cause of a Luminous Plasmoid is a coherent plasma composed of a large number of “vortons,” which are toroidal concentrations of electromagnetic charges rotating as flywheels in a dual symmetry.
When the convective motion of a cluster of such molecules, as in the case of convective atmospheric gas, is taken into account, one has a resultant motion of spiral or elliptical type as a sum of the singular rotary motion and the collective convective motion.

An essential ingredient of the new model is the formation and ejection of a plasmoid which play an essential role in the storage of magnetic energy (by inhibiting reconnection) and the induction of a strong inflow into reconnection region.
Using a simple analytical model, we show that the plasmoid ejection and acceleration are closely coupled with the reconnection process, leading to a nonlinear instability for the whole dynamics that determines the macroscopic reconnection rate uniquely.
When these plasmoids are ejected out of the current sheets, fast reconnection occurs at various different scales in a highly time dependent manner.

Thus, either the plasmoid was formed and accelerated by processes operating in the preexisting current sheet, or it was formed jointly with the current sheet by a global MHD instability.

In a strictly two-dimensional configuration, the particles in the central plasmoid are trapped indefinitely (e.g., Scholer and Jamitzky 1987).

Hence, assuming the equal temperature of both plasmoids, the magnetic field inside the small plasmoid should be higher than inside the big one in order to satisfy the pressure balance condition.
Along with the decrease of the plasmoid's brightness (Delannee and Koutchmy 1996), which also is a manifestation of the plasmoid mass loss, this fact witnesses in favour of a real passage through the thread rather than a passage by it.
During the passage through the thread, there was a redistribution of mass at the plasmoid's boundaries; the plasmoid loses a large amount of matter, but the blob as a whole passes through the thread undamaged (Fig.

Considerations about Plasmoid Phenomena and Superconductivity - Paper by Edward Lewis
Plasmoids, because they have been experienced to convert to electrical discharges and to convert entirely to be surges of electricity in conductors by both K. Shoulders(2) and BL observers, and because they are magnetic, seem to be basically an electrical-magnetic phenomena(3).
Plasmoids also disrupt by emitting electricity and light, and this may explain voltage noises or electrical pulses at the superconducting transition.
Both BL and smaller plasmoids may travel through substances such as glass, ceramics, water and air without dissipating and with seemingly little effect to the substance(2), just as the electrons in superconductors according to their models.

It should be emphasized that the term plasmoid was used in the classical sense, i.e, the portion of plasma originally confined between the near-Earth neutral line and the distant neutral line as illustrated in the classic NENL diagram of [Hones, 1976].
Their data set consisted of 824 plasmoid events, primarily from the mid tail and distant tail, but also 110 observations earthward of -30 RE were included.
Further confusion is added by the fact that the term plasmoid has also been used for a period with enhanced plasma flow without any specification of the magnetic field at all (see e.g.

It is evident that plasmoids are the locus of transmutation and excess energy, and that substance is plasmoid phenomena.

In those works presented above ("Loop top source of solar flares" and "Plasmoid dynamics") we focus our attention on the explosive phase of flares in which a huge amount of energy is released quickly in various forms.
From a viewpoint of the CSHKP model, upward reconnection jets are expected to arise at the onset of flares, which often make a significant contribution to the ejection of plasmoids.
Observationally, it is known that an eruptive plasmoid has three evolutionary phases; that is, the initial gradual rise, the short-term abrupt acceleration, and the long-lasting steady rise (Ohyama and Shibata 1997).
