		I'm in the middle of designing a platform independent engine and I must agree with Grafik that the best way seems to be dividing all platform dependent code up in their own source files while keeping the prototypes and (general) structures in the header files.
		Platform independent OOP tend to get messy and unclear (at least mine do) so I prefer pure C. What I would do first is to sort out the platform dependent sub systems and create a general set of functions unique for each sub system.
