| | So. Platte River Duck Hunting - Colorado Division of Wildlife |
 | | There is a general sense, either real or perceived, that the quality of waterfowl hunting has declined on public-owned lands (public lands), and possibly on private-owned lands (private lands), along the South Platte River in eastern Colorado due to fewer waterfowl (primarily ducks) inhabiting the river during winter, decreased harvest, increased crowding, and habitat change. |
 | | During the 2005-06 waterfowl season we will develop the methodologies, determine feasibility, and refine cost estimates of future research to determine: 1) duck habitat availability, distribution, and quality, and 2) mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) habitat use and selection that may be initiated during the 2006-07 waterfowl seasons. |
 | | The study area includes the South Platte River from the confluence with the Cache la Poudre River (near Greeley) east to the Colorado-Nebraska state line and adjacent reservoirs and bordering public and private lands. |
