 Classification of birds of South America Part 09
Platycichla leucops was formerly (e.g., Hellmayr 1934) considered a subspecies of P.
(2005) did not include the merger of Platycichla into Turdus because additional taxon-sampling within Turdus is planned in follow-up studies.
Notiochelidon flavipes was formerly placed in Pygochelidon (Hellmayr 1935) or Atticora (Zimmer 1955b), but recent classifications have followed Peters (1960) in placing it in Notiochelidon.

 ::: ALCON :::
Many others also are called “Thrush&; in Brazil, however they not belong to the genus Turdus, as the Sago Palms Thrush (Triclaria cyanogaster), Field Trush (Mimus saturninos) and also the Black Thrush (Platycichla flavipes).
As well as the Lesser Seed- Finch, the songs of the Thrushes is marked for regional variations, in special the songs of the Rufus-bellied Trush.
Between them the Rufus-bellied Thrush (Turdus rufiventris), the White Thrush (Turdus leucolulus) and the Right Thrush or Cocoa Thrush (Turdus fumigatus).

 THE BLACK-AND-GOLD COTINGA
At all these trees the Yellow-legged Thrush (Platycichla flavipes) was a more numerous visitor than Tijuca.
If the wings are not seen, there is a striking similarity between the males of Tijuca and the smaller Platycichla, and at a distance some care was needed in distinguishing them.
It may be noted that the Lauraceae and the Araliaceae are two of the most important tree families in the diet of the very specialized frugivorous birds elsewhere in the Neo- tropical Region (Snow 197'1).
