  Brick Plinth Detailing
Plinths may be constructed in a variety of ways, based on using either standard bricks laid at an angle to produce a slope
Although concrete plinths have been clad using slip bricks, it is preferable to use full bricks as these are less vulnerable to differential movement and dislodgement and the integrity of the finished detail is less sensitive to standards of workmanship.
The traditional usage for plinth special bricks was to achieve a reduction in the thickness of walling typically where a wall was one-brick thick at low levels and a half-brick thick structure was sufficient to accommodate the less onerous imposed loads at higher levels.

Plinth Block, Wood Column, Tuscan Column, Carved Capital, and more.
Wooden plinth blocks, which are most often used to trim a door, window, fireplace, or cabinet, are manufactured from many woods, commonly white pine, poplar, oak, mahogany, maple, and cherry.
The use of the plinth block is not limited to the column or pilaster.
Simple and functional plinth blocks are often used at the base of fireplaces and doors to bring the eye upward to the mantel or carved rosettes.

Blue Ox Millworks, Custom Plinth Blocks, Rosettes, Corner Blocks
Plinth blocks, rosettes, and corner blocks are all important elements in the layered feel of Victorian architecture.
The plinth block (or plynth block) serves as a connection between the door casing and baseboard.
The plinth block is designed to cover that seam by standing proud of both the door casing and the baseboard by 1/8” to ¼”, hence if the casing and baseboards are the traditional 7/8” thickness the plinth would be 1” to 1 1/8” thick.

 Garrard 401 Custom Plinth
The task was to design a plinth that provided the necessary clearance for the turntable mechanism, was aesthetically pleasing, and that could accomodate multiple arms one of which would have an effective length of 12 inches.
I settled on a design using an 2 inch thick acrylic plinth that was just big enough to accomodate the turntable---the minimalist size would minimize the ambient vibrations the plinth would pick up, and the compact body would also make it less aesthetically obtrusive.
The choice of acrylic for the plinth was motivated by the fact that a medium density material like acrylic would provide the mass I was looking for as well as have sufficient internal damping to dissipate some vibrational energy.

This, of course, generated a number of harsh glances and at least one "shush." Suitably chastened, a couple of us nipped outside around back to have a smoke and there at the service entrance was yet another "pile of carpet and mohair carpet pad haphazardly bundled." Imagine that.
It is now accepted that the left hand holding the apple and the left arm is in fact original to the statue, but was not as well finished as the rest of the statue since it would have been somewhat above eye level and difficult to see....
The controversial plinth was initially found to fit perfectly as part of the statue, but after it was translated and dated, the embarrassed experts who had publicized the statue as a possible original work by the artist Praxiteles dismissed it as another later addition to the statue."

Plinth went their separate ways in Summer 2006, the band finally dissolving for good after nearly three years in existence.
Plinth's current (and most successful) incarnation began in October 2004, when longtime members Nick (vocals, bad guitar) and Edd (bass) were joined by Chris (good guitar) and Al (drums) and actually had a few successful band practices.
So very pleasing, in fact, that Plinth started playing gigs again as early as March, and the fact these seemed to go not too badly encouraged them to maybe record a demo.

It is clear from the features described in section 2.2 that database technology is a good candidate for meeting PLINTH's requirements for efficient, persistent external data storage and concurrency control.
PLINTH is written entirely in Pop11, a procedure-oriented programming language comparable in power and basic functionality to Common Lisp, but syntactically more akin to Pascal or C. As mentioned in the introduction, the lowest layer in PLINTH is a library called CONNEKT.
In summary then, although PLINTH is not written in a conventional object-oriented language, it most certainly is an object-oriented application, which makes use of complex objects, object identity, extensible class hierarchies and inheritance, and which would benefit from the other object-oriented features described in section 2.1.
