Russian consul visited Pljevlja in 19th century and wrote that Pljevlja was a very beautiful oriental city with gardens and fountains, mosques and churches and over 800 houses in city center (7 000 citizens) which made Pljevlja second largest city in Hercegovački Sandžak becide Mostar.
In 1880 Pljevlja became the center of Pljevaljski Sandžak which existed till 1912 when Pljevlja was finally liberated of Austrian and Ottoman army, when it became a main city in Pljevaljski okrug in Kingdome of Serbia.

Pljevlja — The realization of the first phase of the project of the pipeline construction of 1.800m length from Pljevlja suburb Varos to the Medical Center is to begin within following days.
According to persons in charge at the Plevlja Secretariat for urbanism and construction, the waterworks will enable a more even distribution of water and more stable pressure in the town's pipeline, which is expected to improve significantly the water supply of the entire town.
A Sarajevo construction works company will be in charge of the works, and all the USAID donations to the Pljevlja municipality are going to be realized through international organization ICMA.

Podgorica - The Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) has filed criminal charges with the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Pljevlja against three policemen from the Center for Security in Pljevlja, who severely beat and tortured a group of young men in that city while attempting to force them to confess to dealing in narcotics.
The police then brought Dragoljub Džuver into the bathroom and struck him forcefully in the stomach and ribs several times, demanding that he confess “where the marihuana was”.
According to results from the Surgical Department of Pljevlja General Hospital, four of them had numerous bruises and welts.
