Plockton (Am Ploc/Ploc Loch Aillse in Gaelic) is a village in the Highlands of Scotland, with a population of 378 [1].
Plockton was also used for various scenes in the film The Wicker Man.
In 2003, the Plockton Hotel and Plockton Inn managed to respectively win AA Pub of the Year and AA Seafood Pub of Year.

Plockton, a tiny town in northwestern Scotland … "the Jewel of the Highlands." I called BritRail and was assured that service was back to normal after the delays caused by the crash of the small plane the night before.
"Plockton?" the man echoed, eyebrows raised, unsuccessfully smothering a snicker (and frankly, I don't believe he was trying all that hard!).
I learned that it originally was the first Presbyterian manse in Plockton, before the newer one was constructed (which is now The Manse bandb, where I was staying).

The first mentions of Plockton can be traced back to 1787 and1794 when the Earl of Seaforth's factor talks about the need to lay out or plan a village on the Plockton peninsula.
The reason for this increase in population was due to the rise of the fishing industry and in 1841 Plocktown is referred to as, 'a thriving fishing centre with two schools'.
He also brought forward the extension of the Highland Rail line to Stromeferry, built a new school in Plockton (it is still used today) and contributed in many ways to the general improvement of the village.
