Plymouth Fury - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Plymouth Fury was an automobile model and series made by the Plymouth Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1956 to 1989.
The Fury remained Plymouth’s bread and butter model throughout the ill-planning of the early 1960s when the full-sized Fury was consigned to an intermediate (or mid-sized) platform.
Although the 1958 Plymouth Fury is identified as the car in the film adaptation of Stephen King's Christine, two other Plymouth models, the Belvedere and the Savoy, were also used to portray the malevolent automobile.

The Road Runner was to visit the Fury for a single year before moving on to the Volare, where it would finish its life as only a shadow of its original self, and the basic concept of a rugged, pure-performance machine forgotten.

Polaras and Furys were C-bodies from the 1965 stacked-headlight cars through the end of that body (1968), then through the fuselage cars (1969-early 70s).
Furys and Chryslers are more fuselage-like, while the Polara has more creases (like the Coronet compared to the Satellite).
In 1975, the plain Fury was moved to the B-Body lineup, next to the Coronet and Cordoba.

 Plymouth Fury Parts - Partstrain.com
The Plymouth Fury is probably the best example of a car model whose styling and design just went with the flow and existing trend to live for a wide stretch of production years.
In 1975, the Plymouth Fury was downsized to the intermediate category, with only the Plymouth Gran Fury, a former trim of the Plymouth Fury, being designated on the full-size car category.
Although this generation of the Plymouth Fury would probably be the most known today, mostly due to media publicity and its continued use as a police car, it did not sold well.

Plymouth still wanted to offer a flashy, high-performance model, but had to come up with a name for it because the once-exclusive Fury nameplate was on its high-line cars.
The Sport Fury came with all Fury features--along with a custom padded steering wheel and "swivel-action" front seats, which swiveled outward when a door was opened for more convenient entry.
Plymouth's Fury name change strategy worked, at least as far as sales were concerned.
