Tire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pneumatic tires were first installed on aircraft in 1906.
Pneumatic tires generally have reinforcing threads in them; based on the orientation of the threads, they are classified as bias-ply/cross ply or radial.
Pneumatic tires are made of a flexible elastomer material such as rubber with reinforcing threads/wires inside the elastomer material.

The leather tyre cover had a necessary wear resistance and repeated curvings, and knowing, that the leather is stretched from the water and is inflated under an operation of internal pressure, it is easy to understand, why the tybe should be strengthened by a canvas.
With installation of pneumatic tyres were essentially improved smoothness of a driving, permeability of automobiles, though the first tyres were not reliable and are not adapted to fast mounting.
In 60-th the significant modification was undergone such performance of a construction of a tyre, as the attitude of height of a tyre H to a breadth of a structure B. The first tyres in a slit represented almost correct circle, which height was equaled to a breadth.

The operative word is 'rating.' The strength of the casing is equivalent to the number of plies of cotton which were used to construct original pneumatic tyres.
Pneumatic tyres are generally of low initial cost, but when subjected to abuse, they are most likely to fail.
In all pneumatic tyres it is not the tyre which carries the load, but the air pressure.

It turned the concept of the pneumatic tyre into a practical, production proposition and led the way in applying such concepts first to bicycles, then to motor cars and eventually trucks.
In 1908, Michelin combined the pneumatic tyre with the twinned wheel/tyre arrangement to enable trucks to carry heavier loads without resorting to multiple rear axles.
Tyre designers continue to seek ways of improving the overall performance of truck tyres, a task that represents a constant challenge.

In 1888, the pneumatic tyre was reinvented and a patent was filed claiming 'ease of operation over rough roads, immunity from vibration and increased speed of the vehicles'.
All season tyres should be rotated in a 'modified X' pattern, meaning only the tyres being moved to the drive axle are crossed to the opposite side of the vehicle. The remaining two tyres are moved from the drive axle to the free rolling axle, remaining on the same side of the vehicle.
Tyres should always be replaced with the same size designation or approved options as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or your expert at JK Tyre Steel Wheels.

Concerning the choice between a pneumatic tyre and a solid rubber pneumatic shaped tyre, it is purely a matter of economics.
Tyre life is expected to be longer by using a radial construction because casing damage due to the extremely heavy loads placed on these machines will be diminished by a radial casing.
Aside from their growing enthusiasm concerning radial tyre sales to the ports sector, all of the tyre manufacturers polled for this article were extremely keen to emphasise that they have designs specifically targeted at the ports sector.

Tyres expand when they heat up, and this happens when you start driving, so the best time to check your tyre pressures is first thing in the morning before you leave home.
If the front tyres on a front wheel drive vehicle are over-inflated, the tyre becomes hard, and the area of tyre in contact with the road is reduced.

This program requires that new and used tyres entering St. Lucia undergo a process of rigorous inspection, before being retailed on the local market.
Inspectors examine the tyres for cracking in the sidewall and tread, evidence that the tyre has been driven under or over inflated, ply separation, tread depth and other injuries.
Tyres are inspected to ensure that they conform to the requirements specified in SLNS 40:2001 - Specification for Pneumatic Tyres and SLNS 42:2001 - Specification for Pneumatic Tyres for vehicles other than passenger cars.

 The History of the Tyre
It was not until the late nineteenth century, 1888, that John Boyd Dunlop invented the Rubber Pneumatic Tyre.
Despite these technological breakthroughs the solid rubber tyre continued to be the dominant tyre and it was not until 1889 that the pneumatic tyre caught on.
Two of the most important technical developments include Michelin’s creation of the radial tyre with its vastly superior grip in 1948, and when Dunlop did away with the inner tube on car tyres in 1972.

A diagonal or bias tyre is a pneumatic tyre in which the ply cards extend to the beads and are laid at alternate angles, substantially less than 90 to the center line of the tread, the carcass being stabilized by essentially inextensible circonferential belts.
In alignment the front two wheels are aligned to be parallel while driving & the rear wheels tract the front in the same line to keep the car stable during turns & high speed roll.
Ideally you should have your dealer rotate your tyres to get uniform tyre wear for optimum tyre life every 5,000 to 8,000 kilometers and even more frequently if you do most of your driving around town or if you own a front-wheel drive vehicle.

A Summary Description of "The Story of Robert William Edlin and the Pneumatic Tyre"
The pneumatic tyre industry started in Edlin's small cycle business in Belfast, where Edlin, Finlay Sinclair and John B. Dunlop made the first pneumatic tyred bicycle, c.
A new company, the Pneumatic Tyre and Booth's Cycle Agency Ltd, Dublin, was then set up in association with Booths [sic] Cycle Agency Ltd, Dublin, of which Harvey du Cros was chairman.
A factory was established at Booth's premises, but in January 1891 the business moved to Coventry, where it was known as The Pneumatic Tyre Co. In 1895, Edlin moved to Birmingham where he remained for the rest of his life, opening a factory there under the name of Robert William Edlin, Pneumatic Tyre Manufacturer.

The advantages of the polyurethane tyre are many according to Amerityre including much cooler running temperatures (less wear), much lower rolling resistance (amounting to a reported 10% decrease in fuel consumption) and the ability to produce a complete tyre inside a few minutes significantly simplifying and reducing the cost of the manufacturing process.
The zero pressure spare tyre is under development by Amerityre in response to a growing concern among consumers and government agencies such as The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for post-crash fires caused by fuel leakage in high-impact rear collisions.
A high-pressure pneumatic spare tyre’s close proximity, in most cases, to the fuel tank can be an explosion hazard for vehicles involved in high-impact rear collisions.

If you press him with the observation that rubber tyres were used before that date he will point out that he is talking about the pneumatic tyre – not solid ones.
These tyres had a particular shortcoming as they were stuck to the wheel and thus access to the inner rubber tube in the (common) event of a puncture was tedious but by the end of 1890 CK Welsh had patented the design of a wheel rim and outer cover with an inextensible lip.
From that event to today the simple tyre has developed in many directions, be it towards a child’s tricycle, a giant earthmover or the ubiquitous motor car, the last category itself ranging from micro runabouts to Formula 1 Grand Prix racers.

Dunlop was born in Ayrshire and qualified as a veterinary surgeon before moving to Belfast in 1867.
In 1888 his small son was prescribed cycling as cure for a heavy cold; Dunlop hit on the idea of making the boy's tricycle more comfortable by fitting it with inflated tubes, made of canvas and bonded together with liquid rubber.
A local firm, W. Edlin and Co, then agreed to manufacture frames to fit the new tyre; and when, in 1889, a well-known local cyclist, Willie Hume, won a race at Cherryvale using it, the novelty started to catch on.
