Po Toi (commonly 蒲台島, originally 蒲苔島) is the main island of the Po Toi Islands in Hong Kong, with an area of 3.69 km².
It is said that the island used to produce dried seaweeds (苔), which were shaped like the cattail hassock (蒲團) used by the monks for sitting; therefore the island was originally called 蒲苔島, the present common name being a corruption.

The Poi To islands (commonly 蒲台羣島, originally 蒲苔羣島) are a small group of sparsely inhabited islands (a population of around 200) located south-east of Hong Kong Island, off Stanley, in the territory of Hong Kong.
One of the islands has a haunted house, and some rock carvings supposed to be the epitaph of an emperor who died on or near Po Toi.
The islands are accessible mostly by private ferry (kai-to) or water taxi.

As for Po Toi, a rocky, barren isle southeast of Hong Kong Island, it’s always been considered the Ghost Island by many locals.
One of the joys of Po Toi used to be sitting at a table on the beach, our bare toes wriggling in the cool sand, but that area, too, has been paved over.
Evidently on this island of ghosts, the Po Toi spirits are no longer quite so terrifying.

 Planet Ark : Polluted HK looks to the winds for cleaner power
The environment group set up the station on April 24 on Po Toi, whose 20-odd residents are mainly elderly folks who harvest seaweed or run restaurants catering to weekend visitors.
Po Toi residents pay about HK$3 per kilowatt hour for their power, about thrice the tariffs for Hong Kong residents, he said.
Cheung estimates Po Toi residents would need just a single wind turbine with a capacity of one or two megawatts, with the the diesel-powered generators serving as back-ups.

Actually, apart from visiting the islands the boat circled entire Hong Kong Island which was already interested itself.
The left picture shows the only Hong Kong (and one of very few in the world) waterfall falling directly to the ocean.

Weather in Mui Wo We decided not disembark on Po Toi Island and instead went directly to a small, steep and rocky Beaufort Island, climbing which turned out to be the main goal of the trip.
There is no path on Beaufort Island so to get to the top required to struggle through the bush, climbing rocks, slubs etc. A lot of fun.
The top of Beaufort Island is quite flat and the view over souther coast of Hong Kong Island is quite stunning

Officers located two Mainland men, aged 17 and 25, and 14 Buddha pines aboard the 6.5 metre-long motorised sampan upon searching.
