  POCKET-CRUISER
I decided to build the "Pocket Cruiser" by the Stevenson's so I would have a safe and stable boat to sail.
With several other real good Pocket Cruiser web sites available that go into great detail on the construction of the boat, all I will try and show here are the changes that I made to make this boat fit my needs.
The Pocket Cruiser has a Cat-boat style hull that is only 14' on deck, but has a 6' 9" beam and a fairly high cabin which provides a lot of interior space in such a small boat.

Pocket cruiser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A pocket cruiser, microcruiser or pocket yacht is a small, often lightweight sailboat with a cabin, which is intended for recreational cruising (either overnight or for extended periods) of the owner's chosen waterways.
Pocket cruisers often can readily be loaded on a trailer and towed by most passenger automobiles.
Pocket cruisers are, in general, not fast boats; the short waterline and wide beam required to provide the basic accommodations generally limit the speed that the hulls are capable of.

Myth #4 - OCEAN CRUISING SAILBOATS MUST BE LARGE AND HEAVY
This is especially true with Mac26x cruisers which owing to their shoal draft have ample all weather anchorages to choose from even on notorious coastlines such as the coast of California.
Pocket cruising is a term that applies to sail boats 27 foot and under.
By definition a vessel under 27 foot is not a cruiser, she is a pocket cruiser.

For example, there's a cozy pilothouse with full standing headroom and virtual full-circle visibility, walk-around decks, self-draining cockpit of ample size, incredible economy, and long range; all features one would expect on larger boats, but are surprising to find on a boat of these modest proportions.
Dining, sleeping, and lounging takes place in the trunk cabin on a 7' berth that becomes 6' wide when the table is lowered and pivoted to form a filler.

Myth #7 A KEELED SAIL BOAT WILL POINT INTO THE WIND BETTER THAN A CENTER BOARDER
Performance cruisers, such as Mac26x cruisers and modern style sailboats, tend to have less wetted-surface area (the part of the hull that is immersed in the water) when at a modest heal than cruisers that have a comparable waterline length, such as Mac26m and contemporary style sailboats.
The lifting is greatest the faster the performance cruiser goes and the fin keels are long to compensate for that lift which on its limit will contribute to leeway.
The true wind is actually astern, but owing to the combination of the wind the cruiser makes and the true wind the wind indicator at the top of the mast points slightly forward of the beam.

The Deutschland class was a series of three panzerschiffs, a form of heavily armed cruiser, built by German Reichsmarine in accordance with restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles.

Of course, the wide beam of the boat requires more power to push it through the water (hence my big sail) and if you don't reef in high winds and she starts to heel you will get a lot more weatherhelm (tendancy to turn into the wind) than the weekender.
