TrustedReviews - Seagate 5.0GB USB 2.0 Pocket Hard Drive
Now, this may not be a revolutionary product, in fact we looked at the MSI Mega Cache 15 pocket hard drive a while back, but having 5GB of storage in your pocket can’t be a bad thing.
That said, the Pocket Hard Drive fits very comfortably in the palm of your hand, and the round, almost organic shape is also more aesthetically pleasing than an angular square box.
It allows you to make the pocket drive bootable and you can also repartition the disk here, although any data resident at the time would, of course be lost.

Flash drives have really boomed the last couple years, and although most of the sub-$100 drives can't store as much as a writable DVD, they are much easier to carry around than optical media.
It would be tempting to yank on the drive to unplug it, but we recommend just pulling on the USB plug as you would (or should) with any USB cable after properly "ejecting" the device.
While smaller drives will get the job done, assuming you only transfer a moderate amount of files, having access to 5GB of storage is quite a life saver, especially with chores such as driver updates, application patches and multimedia file transfers.

Test drive: Pocket-sized hard drive - Orlando Sentinel : Business
But until now, removable hard drives with lots of space were pretty expensive and generally designed only to work on the computer you bought it with.
Developed by Flotec Engineering in South Korea, the Pockey hard drive comes in a variety of formats and requires no external power supply; it pulls juice in from the USB port, something nearly every computer sold over the last two years is equipped with.
The Pockey seems as rugged as any other laptop-size hard drive, which is essentially what it is. Even so, I'd make sure material on the Pockey was also backed up on other media, because its tiny footprint suggests there isn't any room for shock protection in the case.

While many mini drives sport 2GB capacities, Seagate's USB 2.0 Pocket Hard Drive is among the first to pack 5GB of storage-that's enough room for 80 hours of music, 2,000 digital photos, or 4.5 hours of video-into a compact circular case that weighs just 2.2 ounces.
The Pocket Hard Drive uses the fast USB 2.0 interface and is backwards-compatible with the older USB standard, and it features a two-piece design where the interior round case rotates to expose a 6-inch long interface cable that both transfers data and supplies power.
When the drive is not in use, this cable is completely hidden and the plug protected from damage.

This is the least of the Pocket Hard Drive’s troubles.
The retractable USB cable saves the headaches so many flash drives cause when their chunky front-ends are awkwardly jammed into USB ports, the blue LED usefully (if distractingly) flashes to indicate drive access, and it performs faster than most of its solid state competitors.
Performance is understandably slow, given that the drive spins at only 3,600rpm, but 5GB of data was copied onto it from our test PC in just under 14 minutes, so it’s a more than practical replacement for writeable DVDs.
