  Laomedon
Laomedon was the son of Ilus and a king of Troy, two of his sons were Tithonus and Podarces (Priam) who was later to be king.
From that day on, Podarces became known as 'Priam' (which means "bought or "ransomed") and he became the most famous king of Troy.
In Homer's Iliad, Priam is portrayed as an old man, grieving the misfortunes of the Trojans, and the death of many of his sons.

'Priam' Pordarces "High King of Troy"
Priam was originally called Podarces and he kept himself from being killed by Heracles by giving him a golden veil embroidered by his sister, Hesione.
This is an etymology based on priatos "ransomed"; the actual etymology of the name is probably not Greek, but perhaps Lydian in origin.
Heracles (along with Oicles and Telamon) rescued her at the last minute and killed both the monster and Laomedon and Laomedon's sons, save Podarces, who saved his own life by giving Heracles a golden veil Hesione had made (and therefore was afterwards called Priam, from priamai 'to buy').

Of these, Medon was bastard son to Oileus and brother of Ajax, but he lived in Phylace away from his own country, for he had killed the brother of his stepmother Eriopis, the wife of Oileus; the other, Podarces, was the son of Iphiclus, son of Phylacus.
