“Podiatry” is synonymous with chiropody and means diagnosis or medical, surgical, mechanical, manipulative or electrical treatment of ailments of the human foot and leg, but does not include amputation of foot, toe or leg nor administration of an anesthetic other than local.
A student of an accredited podiatry school whose standards are recognized by the American Podiatry Association who is engaged in an official hospital-based or office-based externship or clerkship training program approved by the podiatry school and the board, in the actual performance of the student’s duties.
An applicant for a podiatry examination shall file with the secretary of the board of podiatry examiners, not less than ninety days before the date of such examination, an application to take the examination accompanied by the required fee on a form prescribed and furnished by the board.

The board may send a questionnaire developed by the board to any school of podiatry for which the board does not have sufficient information to determine whether the school meets the requirements of subsection (a) and rules and regulations adopted under this section.
Each exempt licensee may apply for a license to regularly engage in the practice of podiatry upon filing a written application with the board and submitting evidence of satisfactory completion of the applicable and continuing education requirements established by the board.
An action to enjoin or oust from the unlawful practice of podiatry may be brought and maintained in the name of the state of Kansas against any person who shall practice podiatry without being licensed to practice podiatry by the board.

The practice of the profession of podiatry is defined as diagnosing, treating, operating and prescribing for any disease, injury, deformity or other condition of the foot, and may include performing physical evaluations in conjunction with the provision of podiatric treatment.
A state board for podiatry shall be appointed by the board of regents on recommendation of the commissioner for the purpose of assisting the board of regents and the department on matters of professional licensing and professional conduct in accordance with section sixty-five hundred eight of this title.

Look at the plethora of recent textbooks from occupational therapy defining the occupational therpy model with models and frameworks --- they are very well developed and rapidly catching up to nursing in their ability to define their profession in such a way (no wonder they are no longer perceived as basket makers).
