	A deconstructive reading of a love poem
		In looking at this poem I do not want to stop with the bathos underlying it: the stakes of love being reduced to people getting their feet wet; or the powerlessness of grabbing, as the lovers admit themselves incapable of anything but retreat and grasping before the forces, however weak, of nature.
		The poem transfers the danger of the force of nature to that which is the apparent containment of that force.

	Poetry Explication
		In these paragraphs, the writer should explain the poem line by line in terms of these details, and he or she should incorporate important elements of rhyme, rhythm, and meter during this discussion.
		The poem ends with a vague statement: "And all that mighty heart is lying still!" In this line, the city's heart could be dead, or it could be simply deceiving the one observing the scene.

	In Flanders Field, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae
		It is a lasting legacy of the terrible battle in the Ypres salient in the spring of 1915.
		Although he had been a doctor for years and had served in the South African War, it was impossible to get used to the suffering, the screams, and the blood here, and Major John McCrae had seen and heard enough in his dressing station to last him a lifetime.
		Dissatisfied with it, McCrae tossed the poem away, but a fellow officer retrieved it and sent it to newspapers in England.

	NPR : Robert Frost Poem Discovered Tucked Away in Book
		The poem is called "War Thoughts at Home" and was written in the cover of a book belonging to Frederic Melcher, a well-known American publisher and friend of Frost.
		The words "unpublished poem" written in 1947 could easily mean, "published hundreds of times since." Still, I went back to the desk for the book in question and, within minutes, I had in my hands a puzzle.
		There, inscribed by Frost, was a poem that began with a "flurry of bird war" and ended with a train of sheds lying "dead on a side track." What war thoughts were these, and who was this Melcher who had held on to them?
