In March, the Point Edward Public Utilities Commission recommended council retain ownership of the utility, in conjunction with amalgamation with other utilities in Lambton County, as part of the province's plan to deregulate the supply and sale of electricity.
Point Edward intends to keep the utility, which will be operated as its own corporation by Nov. 1, 2000, with an appointed board of directors.
Point Edward Mayor Barb Horner is pleased with the commission's recommendations and said council was thinking the same thing when they received the recommendation from the PUC.
