Partridge   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Partridge was a great hiker --- once walking 60 miles in a single day --- and on every mountain climb he carried along a barometer (that's the B-word) and a thermometer so he could measure the altitude of the peak [how, precisely, does on do this?].
Partridge was a pioneer in American education and a graduate and former Superintendent of West Point.
Partridge wanted officers who would be "identified in views, in feelings, and in interest, with the great body of the community," and a college that would reconcile the efficiency and discipline demanded by a regular Army with the republican values and popular sentiments inherent in the militia system.

 Hermes Article
Partridge decided that a large standing army was actually a menace to the security of the United States and that the country should instead train a large, standing "citizen soldiery" (i.e., militia) in the art of war.
Beginning with just a few young cadets, Partridge set out teaching mathematics and engineering to this "citizen soldiery" of the future—and at least as far as the quality of his own classes were concerned, was highly praised for his efforts.
Partridge soon gave up on the enterprise and retreated to Vermont, leaving the stockholders to sell the whole enterprise over to an energetic group of Methodists who were beginning to flourish in the area, some of them bearing names like Clark and Fisk.

I admit it: after years of compulsive Partridge purchasing, all the smart money was on me buying his latest collection of demos and throwaways, despite being a little underwhelmed by last year's inaugural volumes.
Partridge's thoughts on this particular song-styling expedition: "As in most rap, the 'c' is silent." Don't believe the hype, A. Actually, in this case, believe the shit out of it.
However, I'd also argue it should have been the final word on demos of previously released stuff from them-- by this point, Partridge is running out of decent versions of his tunes to release, and I'm running out of patience with his faith in my compulsive buying habits.

There are rumors that Partridge may expand the Fuzzy Warbles series to ten volumes (he swears he's got the backlog to fund it), and I guess that's going to mean a few more transactions for die-hard XTC fans.

In addition to traveling in comfort, the Partridge family is used to road trips; the Brady's are used to sitting at home, fanning their asses on that astro-turf (tm) lawn of theirs.
The Partridge's don't have all that Hollywood marketing under their belts, all they can manage is a spot on MUCH MUSIC (a fiercely Canadian tv-station), but The Brady's have two hit movies under their belt, and this adds THE CLOUT(tm) to their performance.
The Partridges meanwhile are musicians, and that means that each of them doubtlessly has their own ego and ambitions to deal with.
