The Pointer Sisters are an American RandB group and recording act from Oakland, California that achieved great success during the 1970s and 1980s.
In 2004, June Pointer had to leave due to health problems; she was replaced with Ruth's daughter, Issa, and the group continues to perform.
In addition, their collaboration with Belgian pop star Natalia on "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves," placed them on the charts in Europe (the single peaked at 2 in the Belgian charts) and resulted in ten sold out concerts in Antwerp in January 2006.

The Pointer Sisters had a serious identity crisis for the first several years of their career, unable to choose among pop, nostalgia, soul, jazz, disco and funk.
The sisters are mostly at the mercy of all the backing tracks: often you can't hear them, and when you can they're usually hurrying through some lyrical cliché.
Produced by Peter Wolf, and the result is the Pointers' best album in years: the arrangements are thoroughly up-to-date dance pop without being aggressively fashionable, and plenty of room is left for the sisters' vocals, which are enthusiastic and even rambunctious (title track).

In their heyday in the 1970s and '80s, the Pointer Sisters scored three Grammys for the hits "Fairytale," "Jump (For My Love)" and "Automatic." The original four-sister lineup of Ruth, Anita, June and Bonnie dwindled to a trio in 1977, when Bonnie left the group to pursue a solo career.
