		“w oder q” is a forty-minute exploration of juxtaposed silence and simmering, restrained glitch textures, while “q oder z” clocks in at a mere five minutes, exploring the same concept, but with less success.
		Poire_z is for4ears Records founder Günter Müller on ipod, percussion and electronics, ErikM on 3k_pad fsystem, and Norbert Möslang and Andy Guhl, of the former duo Voice Crack, playing what they call “cracked everyday-electronics.” What sound comes from which device is anyone’s guess, but part of electronica’s strength is ambiguity.
		But when strong the quintet generates sounds with a presence so real you can touch them, feel their glistening smoothness, grating roughness, glowing warmth or slick wetness.

		Although all of the tracks were initially recorded live, with four subsequently remixed, consuming them in your own listening space is vastly different from "seeing" the band in person.
		Since the three, who add erikm on turntables and live sampling to become Poire_ Z, prefer to work in near darkness, and with much of the so-called performance consisting of the audience watching shadowy intense figures peering at video screens, the effect is anything but visual.
		Besides, with creative subtleties commonly swallowed by an open space's acoustics, the effect can be like peering at a painting through a keyhole.

		Salvageable is “q oder z”, which at fewer than five minutes gives Minton appropriate space in which to burble, buzz and whoop vocal tones on top of textures that range from the quivering sound of cicadas to the rhythmic drone of a car motor turning over on a damp day.
		Most of the time, though, it’s difficult to find Minton among the liquid swizzles, oscillating highs and fluttering lows that make up the more than 39-minute “w oder q”.

		His work (I'm guessing) on POIRE Z (For4Ears) is pretty >interesting to me. I like ZYGOSIS quite a bit.
		There are a couple of hilarious moments toward the beginning but by the end there's a track that you don't want to play loud late at night in the dark.
		Very different from his contributions to POIRE Z (obviously) but I also recommend this record even though its rather hard to make heads or tails of who's who sound wise.
