Admittedly, I'm somewhat older than Pokey Reese, but some of the conditions he experienced were not all that unusual a generation, or two, before.
Props to Pokey (and to Scott Williamson, and Bryce Florie, wherever he is now...) no matter what your profession, managing to overcome those kind of obstacles and still do your job is pretty damn impressive.
I think that Reese could have a good effect on people like Nomar and/or Pedro who may become disillusioned with the whole circus from time to time.
