Polaroid Corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Polaroid Corporation was founded in 1937 by Edwin H. Land.
Polaroid's bankruptcy was widely believed to be the result of the failure of its senior management to see the effect of digital cameras on its film business, a fate that also befell its primary rival, Kodak.
The same year, Flextronics purchased Polaroid's manufacturing operations and the decision was made to send most of the manufacturing to China.

My Polaroid Transfers. Stories behind Images. How to start.
Polaroid image and emulsion transfers are alternative photographic processes which cross the boundaries of painting, printmaking, and photography.
Polaroid image transfer provides an extremely versatile vehicle for the visual artist, allowing for images with a painterly quality, as well as partially rendered images.
Polaroid emulsion transfer(emulsion lift) uses the same film and equipment, however, the results are completely different.

 The Land List
Interestingly, the same mallability that transformed Time-Zero film into a hand-craftable art medium was originally considered by Polaroid to be one of this film's deficiencies-- an engineering problem that was finally solved with the research and development that went into 600 film.
What Polaroid is really doing is re-positioning this film as a more efficient/economical format for use in film backs for professional medium-format cameras-- one application that has likely (so far) had a somewhat more minimal impact from digital technologies.
Yes, a Polaroid rollfilm camera user guide seems almost academic at this stage in the game, but I do get asked about that from time to time, and I thought it'd be a nice idea.

A Polaroid spokesman added: "Almost everybody does it, thinking that shaking accelerates the development process, but if you shake it too vigorously you could distort the image.
Polaroid said its film should be laid on a flat surface and shielded from the wind, and that users should avoid bending or twisting their pictures.
