  Police Dog Houses
Police Dog Houses are dog houses made from K-9 Law Enforcement dog house plans and now these dog house plans are available to the general public in various sizes and models.
These police dog house plans are the final result of years of response to feedback from police K-9 handlers, veterinarians, and K-9 owners.
Our police dog houses are used by police in housing all kinds of highly trained canines in areas such as bomb detecting, narcotics, and forensics, as well as search dogs for tracking and crowd control.

Police dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A police dog is a dog that is trained specifically to assist police and similar law-enforcement personnel with their work.
Modern police dogs are not vicious animals; most are trained to enjoy their work, with chasing and grabbing introduced to them as tricks or games that can be played only when the handler (a police officer) gives the appropriate command.
For some sniffer dogs in environments where it is perceived that a criminal may attempt to kill the dog to prevent detection, a bodyguard dog is assigned with the sniffer to intimidate and, if necessary, attack anyone who would attack them.

Police have for years insisted there is a major difference between using a gun or baton to subdue a suspect and the damage caused by a dog's teeth, said Donald Cook, one of two California attorneys credited with using the courts to force the L.A. police to reform their dog unit.
Police dogs must be able to bite to protect themselves and their handlers, he said.
Yukon was one of the first dogs the sheriff's office bought when the department brought back its police dog unit, and records show that he never should have been put on the street, she said.

DOG BITE LAW - Police Liability for Dog Bites
When their dogs cause injuries, law enforcement agencies and individual officers can be held liable, such as when the officer's actions are unreasonable or where the dog is not on patrol when the accident happens.
If a person is injured by a dog owned by a police department but not being used on a patrol, the usual rules pertaining to dog bite liability apply, but there are special requirements for bringing a claim, and a shortened period of limitations.
If the dog bites a person under any circumstances during which the dog is "off duty," or not engaging in actual law enforcement work, the victim has the usual rights which are described in Legal Rights of Dog Bite Victims in the USA.

Although for police dogs in North America the use of the muzzle has grown over the past ten years, I still meet a great many handlers who either are not familiar with the basic concepts or are misinformed.
However, these dogs should continue to run through the same exercises and progressions to ensure that they are clear on the concepts and that there are no hidden surprises (from the dog) later on.

The difference is that a police dog needs to view the helper as an adversary that can hurt him, for that reason the dog needs to stay 1 or 2 meters back away from the helper (when the helper is not trying to fight or flee).
I define fight drive as "a dog that carries the forwardness of prey with the intensity of defense, its a dog that is prepared to fight under every circumstance in every environment with or without training equipment." It is not something that can be put in a dog.
Dogs that work in fight drive rather than prey drive are a lot easier for the handlers to control.

Later, it was the Birmingham dog attacks which were chosen as the subject of a statue erected in Kelly Ingram Park in Birmingham (see: Birmingham Civil Rights Memorial) to commemorate the courage of those who stood at the front lines in the civil rights movement.
The lawsuit says the case arose in part from aggression training for dogs, 'entrenched policies of using dogs without muzzles,' training deficiencies and policies that caused a dog 'that already was known as uncontrollably violent' to attack her.
Meanwhile, although victims of police dog abuse are routinely awarded large civil liability claims, those who are ultimately responsible for police dog abuse almost always escape criminal responsibility for their actions.

The Dog Day Traffic Stop - Basic Canine Search and Seizure - PoliceLink.com
Once the drug detection dog has sniffed the target vehicle and has alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics, you must consider whether a warrant is required to search the vehicle.
Generally, if a dog’s training is documented, and the dog is certified at the time of the sniff, and has developed a successful track record, the court will inquire no further.
While the dog’s sniff of plaintiffs’ bodies was clearly more intrusive than its sniff of the vehicle, it nevertheless was reasonable in light of all the relevant circumstances.
