For those who have not read that worthy epic, Polidarius was the Son of Ascelpius and whom, together with his brother Machon, went to the War against Troy.
Machon was said to be the Ancient Father of Surgical Medicine whilst Polidarius, the more gentle of the two, was said to be the father of Herbal Medicine.
It is interesting to note that of the two, Polidarius returned from the war whereas Machon was killed in Combat.
