The PUB has 12 schools -- five of Mechanical Engineering, three of Electrical Engineering, one of Power Engineering, one of Chemical Engineering, one of Metallurgy and Materials Science and the recently founded (1991) Department of Engineering Sciences -- with all the courses in modern European languages (English, French and German).
To be admitted in one of PUB's faculties, one has to be a high school graduate (12 years of studies and Baccalaureate diploma) and to pass an entrance examination.
The informational resources of the university are concentrated around a LAN configuration that includes the whole net structure of all the departments.The LAN (Local Area Network) configuration is complex.

 REPRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS OF GENOMIC SIGNALS
It is shown that the variation of genomic data along nucleotide sequences, specifically the cumulated and unwrapped phase, can be visualized adequately as simple graphic lines for low and large scales, while for medium scales (thousands to tens of thousands of base pairs) the statistical descriptions have to be used.
Paul Cristea received his Ph.D. in Technical Physics from the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest in 1970.
Currently, he is a Professor and the Coordinator of the Electrical Engineering and Computers Division of the Faculty of Engineering of the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, General Manager of the Bio-Medical Engineering Center of UPB and the Director of the Romanian Bioinformatics Society.

The main conclusion is that hardware-efficient solutions require analog computations, and suggests the following two alternatives: (i) cope with the limitations imposed by silicon, by speeding up the computation of the elementary 'silicon' neurons; (ii) investigate solutions which would allow the use of the third dimension (e.g., optical interconnections).

 Romanian students visit campus to learn about construction of satellites
The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), the University of Bucharest and Politehnica University of Bucharest sponsored the students' trip.
The third experiment tethers two satellites together to study their dynamics and test math models, said Irina Stefanescu, a doctoral candidate in aerospace engineering at Politehnica University of Bucharest.
The students are at Stanford to learn as much as they can about CubeSat standards, power supplies and solar panels, said their faculty adviser, Mirel Vasiliu, a research scientist in electronics at Politehnica University of Bucharest.
