Politics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Political science is the study of political behavior and examines the acquisition and application of power.
Rule by elders was supplanted by monarchy, and a system of Feudalism as an arrangement where a single family dominated the political affairs of a community.
The multiple notions of political power that are put forth range from conventional views that simply revolve around the actions of politicians to those who view political power as an insidious form of institutionalized social control.

Political Philosophy [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
Political rationalism emphasizes the employment of reason in social affairs: that is, individuals ought to submit to the logic and universality of reason rather than their own subjective or cultural preconceptions.
Politically, socialists claim that the free market system (capitalism) should be replaced or reformed, with most arguing for a radical redistribution of resources (usually to ‘workers’ — i.e., those socialists deem who do not presently own anything) and for the state or some form of democratic institution to take over the running of the economy.
The political philosophies of liberalism, socialism, conservativism and anarchism — and all of their variants — agree that the good life sought by political philosophy ought to be the good life for human beings.

Taiwanese political participation was expanded to the national level in December 1969, when eleven legislators to the Legislative Yuan and fifteen delegates to the National Assembly were directly elected by the people in the Taiwan area.
It is widely accepted that Taiwan's successful political democratization is related to several factors, including a well-educated elite in the ruling Kuomintang, the rise of the middle class, the rise of the opposition, external pressure, the popularity of higher education, and so on.
Political parties were not allowed to be formed, and the political freedoms of speech, publication, and assembly were under the government's strict censorship.

Foreign Affairs - Whither Political Islam? - Mahmood Mamdani
In addition to the mix of interest and ideology, the two groups share global ambitions and a deep faith in the efficacy of politically motivated violence, and both count among their ranks cadres whose biographies are often tainted by early stints in the Trotskyist or the Maoist left.
According to Roy, political Islam is bifurcated between Islamist parties in Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and Islamists in the diaspora.
It is evidence that the growth of political Islam has been less linear and more hybrid than is often acknowledged and that it has been driven largely by distinct political projects, such as the "global jihad" or "the West." And properly understanding the development of political Islam is the only way to gauge its prospects.

Overcoming the party's internal problems is likely to prove difficult, at least in the short term, given UCR party leaders' anger about the resounding defeat and their tendency to blame Alfonsin and his pact with Menem.
