Iraqi Political Groups Take Steps To Organize   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The group's political platform calls for a stable Iraq that respects all religions and ethnic groups and rejects the occupation and "all the laws and regulations that the people did not participate in forming." "We have a comprehensive political project that believes that change must come from within, not through foreign oppression," Shalash says.
The group says it is willing to "cooperate and form an alliance with all our people's national, Pan-Arab, and Islamic forces" in order to enter the election with a unified broad-based front that "expresses the interests of the broadest social sectors" of Iraqi society.
The Iraqi Arab Socialist Movement proclaims supports for political and religious freedom, freedom of the press, the return of the displaced to their homes and lands, support for Islam as the official religion, separation of the three branches of government, a condemnation of terrorism, and a national reconciliation program.

Led by Faris Kahrdi, the group supports the return of the monarchy to Iraq and "views the change that took place on 14 July 1958, which removed the monarchy, as the beginning of the deterioration of political life in Iraq," London's "Al-Hayat" reported in October 2003.

The Debate Over The “527” Political Groups
In the present situation, these highly funded 527 groups are only constrained by their conscience and sense of decency.  Based on some of the scathing ads put out by these groups, some of them are severely lacking in either of these qualities.
Without a doubt, 527 groups have and will likely continue to have a major impact on this election. ; But not in quite the way you might think.  It is natural to assume that the mega-funded Democrat leaning 527s would have savaged and shredded Bush to bits by now.
Yet on the negative side, some of these large groups are highly influenced by a handful of billionaires who think they should be able to buy an election. ; And I must add that some of the 527 ads have been over the top, and have only served to further divide and polarize the electorate.

By placing the extreme Left-wing minority at or near the apex of the triangle we have put them "higher" in the scale of political opinion - in other words, we have implied that they are "Intellectuals".
Thus the term "masses" does not necessarily exclude persons of the greatest intelligence though, for reasons which will become apparent in due course, it may be uncommon for such people to occupy the lowest intellectual level for very long.
What we do suggest, however, is that our scale of political outlooks has a direct and close relationship with the growth of intellect, or rather, with an aspect of intellectual development - and the most important and significant aspect at that, namely: the qualitative development of intellect.

Earlier this week, Ashcroft announced that guidelines limiting domestic surveillance that were put in place by the Ford administration would be relaxed to allow FBI agents to attend public political meetings and scour Internet sites to obtain information about possible terrorist activities.
Under the guidelines, named for then-Attorney General Edward Levi, the FBI could initiate such surveillance only if it had a reasonable suspicion that a crime was being planned.
"Merely having the FBI go in and investigate political expression which might not be approved by a majority of the people, but which is protected by the First Amendment, comes awful close to the edge," said Sensenbrenner, a conservative normally aligned with the Bush administration.
