Art Deco was a popular design movement from 1920 until 1939, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design, and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts, and film.

The term covers many political, cultural and artistic movements rooted in the changes in Western society at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century.

Political movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A political movement may be organized around a single issue or set of issues, or around a set of shared concerns of a social group.
In contrast with a political party, a political movement is not organized to elect members of the movement to government office; instead, a political movement aims to convince citizens and/or government officers to take action on the issues and concerns which are the focus of the movement.
Political movements are an expression of the struggle for the political space and benefits.

Contemporary Political Islam is not the outcome of a reaction to the so-called abuses of secularism, as often purported, unfortunately.
The existing power structures against which the movements of Political Islam are hurling themselves are the compradors, the national bourgeoisie of the region, fully subordinate to the diktats of neoliberal globalization.
Popular political confusion in the Islamic world is in no small part due to the extreme timidity of the critique that the left had addressed in the previous period to the ruling forces of national populism.

How to Track Politics on the Internet: Introduction
Virtually all political parties, ranging from the largest to the most obscure, have Web sites, as do thousands of interest groups, think tanks, trade associations, labor unions, agencies at all levels of government, news organizations that provide political reports, polling firms, private individuals, and just about everyone else involved in the political process.
In fact, some of the most interesting political uses of the Internet are occurring in countries such as China, where it has opened – if only slightly – the door that previously blocked all public debate.
It stands to change political and ideological alignments, the substance of news available to the population, and the relationships between political leaders and the people.

Political Movements : Indigenous Peoples Of Mexico
During the three centuries of colonial rule there were many rebellions and armed movements by the indigenous populations in defense of their rights as peoples and against those that sought to oppress them.
The scope of the indigenous movement over the last twenty years does not include all ethnic groups in the country, nor is it homogeneous since the causes giving rise to these organizations and the problem each confronts are not identical.
Although the local level movements are limited in space and time they are the basis for the regional organizations, and experience gained in one local organization is carried over by its members into new organizations.

Most of us are unaware of gay politics and history, have never written a letter or sent a fax or made a phone call to a politician, and, if we are indeed like the majority of Americans, probably don't even vote.

 Social Movements of the 1960s
Movements provide a context for the discourse that declares discontents to be more than private pain and for isolation of experience to be artificial.
Established institutions typically oppose social movements by charging that they are a "mob." Converting a disorganized cabal of individuals into a collectivity capable of joint action and coordinated response undermines the institution's strategy of opposition.
Revolutionary movements generally win when the suppressive actions of a regime drive so many people to see the justice of revolutionary demands and thus into active or passive support for the movement that the energy flowing into the movement can no longer be countered.

Marxist approaches have been and remain influential ways of understanding the role of political economy and class differences as key forces in many historical and current social movements, and they continue to challenge approaches that are limited by their inability to imagine serious alternatives to consumer capitalist social structures.
Movements clearly differ in the degree to which they develop a specific culture, and no movement is ever fully isolated from or free from the influences of the larger culture(s) of which it is a part.
RM theory stresses the ways in which movements are shaped by and work within limits set by the resources (especially economic, political and communications resources) available to the group and the organizational skills of movement leaders in utilizing those resources.

Secondly, strong political regimes, which have resources to repress social forces or to produce for people illusory interests which are profitable to the regime, have the ability to break off the process of emergence of social movements and in such cases there will be no social movements.
