SPCH 4302: How to Analyze Political Rhetoric (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-28) |
 | | Conservative rhetoric encourages self-image of being a defender of the society (the nation, the culture, the faith, the family). |
 | | Liberal rhetoric is the rhetoric of the “have-nots” who seek to change what they view as bad and obtain the good that they currently do not possess. |
 | | Liberal rhetoric encourages the self-image of being the defender of the poor, the underprivileged, the unfortunate, the victims, the overburdened taxpayers, etc. Within their supporters, liberal rhetoric often suggests fears of stasis (like being stopped, stalled or thwarted), either suddenly by being banned or controlled, or slowly due to exhaustion or burn-out. |
