		Polog Scheme was identified in February 1997 as next priority, when the additional funding from the Government of Netherlands became available.
		In Polog, rapid conversion from rain-fed wheat to irrigated alfalfa and maize for livestock purposes is expected with the rehabilitation of irrigation scheme.
		The Polog climate is continental Mediterranean with an average annual rainfall of around 800 mm, and generally there is a moisture deficit of around 300 mm over the period of May to September; irrigation is essential for all crops (except wheat) and a pre-requisite for competitive economic agriculture.

	Macedonia FAQ: Tetovo
		Tetovo is located at the foothills of the Shar Mountain in north-western Macedonia, 468 m above the sea level, on the edge of the Polog Valley.

		This requirement was announced early this week by Willliam Collado, chief of EMB’s ennvironmental impact assessment division who said that the Polog dumpsite has not been approved by the bureau.
		Although I recommend that the dumpsite in Polog, a mountain barangay west of Consolacion town be moved to Barangay Nangka, I did not mean that it shall be closed immediately.
		In the meantime that there is no other dumpsite, the Polog dumpsite should be used temporarily for a limited period.
