		The Polsten 20 mm was a Polish designed, British made anti-aircraft gun of the Second World War based upon a simplified Swiss Oerlikon 20 mm cannon.
		Polsten 20 mm had an effective ceiling of 2200 meters and a muzzle velocity of 831 meters-per-second.
		Pom-pom was a nickname given first to a Boer gun employed during the Boer War, and afterwards to the British one-pounder, quick firing automatic gun made by Maxim which fired five rounds a minute.

	Light Anti Aircraft Weapons
		The original British defence was a mounting which held twin Bren light machine guns, each fitted with a 100 round drum magazine and fired from either a tripod or the rear of a 15 cwt truck.
		The Polsten did not appear until early 1944 and as such was available for the campaign in the West.
		The Polsten could be deployed as a vehicle weapon or on a towed carriage, which weighed approximately 500 kg.

	20 mm AA Guns
		The Poles simplified the Oerlikon in 1939 and then with the British, developed the Polsten which was issued by 1944.
		A restored deactivated Polsten is on a restored airborne mounting in the UK (2002).
		Most sources say that Polsten was from Poland (as they developed the design concept) and say that "Sten" was a British company that carried on the development work.

		Oerlikon continued to improve the SS range until after the Second World War, the last being the 2SS, capable of firing at 650 rpm.
		Polish engineers working in Britain produced a much simplified version of the SS known as the Polsten, which saw some service late in the War.
		The Polsten used a 30-round double-row box feed.

		His FORD F15 with the POLSTEN gun is a really nice vehicle and very rare.

		The Polsten cannons were an Anti Aircraft gun but due to its high firing rate was a very effective ground weapon.
		They also carried standard infantry weapons including two 3" mortars and 2" mortars, a Bren Light machine gun, standard rifles but with sniper sights, a PIAT (ant tank) gun and many and various hand grenades.

		De verhaallijn is dan ook bijzonder grillig, ze fladdert van de ene scène naar de andere heen en weer tussen werkelijkheid en fictie, tussen droom en realiteit, tussen heden en verleden, als de Tom Cruise-vlinder die van de ene bloem/vrouw naar de andere vliegt.

		The major attack towards Wau airfield could also be repelled, and the nicest thing were the constant air-attacks on a defending arty, which was shielded by the Polsten, scoring four kills.
		In the west heavy attacks on the VH could be beaten off with the arty and the aux-P-40F (3 kills!).
		The leader-Oerlikon took its toll from attacking TB and Ftr, while the Polsten saw no action.
